Aug 21, 2023Palm Springs airport restaurant reopens after rodent activity
(Correction: This story originally incorrectly stated that a restaurant remained closed.)
A restaurant inside the Palm Springs International Airport was closed this week due to evidence of rodent activity, while a Palm Desert poke eatery received a "B" grade from inspectors, according to reports.
Las Casuelas at the Palm Springs International Airport was closed by Riverside County health inspectors on March 27 due to rodent droppings and gnaw marks on food packaging. However, the airport PIO alerted The Desert Sun Friday afternoon that PSP worked with the restaurant's operators, Paradies (separate from the Delgado family, who operates the other Las Casuelas locations) and the restaurant has since reopened.
PSP provided the following statement on Friday: "Following a brief closure yesterday afternoon during a routine health inspection, Las Casuelas Terraza has reopened this morning with full clearance. PSP worked quickly with our food and beverage partner to address the issue, ensuring a clean and safe experience for travelers."
Additionally, Pokehana in Palm Desert earned a "B" during its most recent inspection due to a number of minor violations, including issues with handwashing, hot and cold food holding temperatures and more.
Here are the restaurants that were inspected in the Coachella Valley March 21 through 28:
Las Casuelas at Palm Springs International Airport, 3400 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, Palm Springs
Pokehana, 73-405 Highway 111, Suite 104, Palm Desert
An “A” grade, or a score of 90 to 100 points, means a restaurant passed an inspection and met minimum health standards.
Cathedral City
Desert Hot Springs
Indio
La Quinta
Palm Desert

Rancho Mirage
Note: No restaurant inspections were reported for businesses in the cities of Coachella and Indian Wells for the week of March 21 through 28.
